Job summary
As a Wholesale Credit Risk EMEA Associate in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications team, you will assess and manage credit risk for a broad range of clients across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. You will work closely with partners across corporate banking, markets and product teams to support clients across leveraged, investment grade and innovation-led businesses, including those backed by venture capital. You will help shape credit decisions through high-quality due diligence, thoughtful structuring and clear communication of risk. This role reports into the Vice President - Credit Risk.
Job responsibilities
- Lead due diligence, credit analysis, and financial modelling for credit counterparties
- Drive the preparation of credit approval memos, including recommendations on structure, risk appetite, and risk grading
- Build financial models and challenge modelling assumptions with relevant coverage and product partners
- Develop appropriate downside scenarios and clearly articulate key modelling conclusions
- Partner across products including lending, derivatives, trade finance, and treasury products
- Support negotiation of facility documentation to help identify and mitigate key risks
- Apply risk management policies and interact with stakeholders, including regulators and auditors
- Manage ongoing portfolio monitoring, including risk ratings, sector trends, and client performance
- Coach and support the development of junior colleagues
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Strong credit judgement with a proactive approach to risk identification and credit process discipline
- Demonstrated knowledge of transaction structures, facility documentation, and core banking products
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information
- Ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with key stakeholders
- Proven ability to coach and develop junior colleagues
- Self-starting, results-focused, able to manage multiple priorities, and adaptable to change
- Experience in a credit risk function or leveraged finance underwriting environment
- Strong cash flow modelling and financial analysis skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Proficiency in European language(s) in addition to English
- Experience working with venture capital-backed clients
- Familiarity with high yield lending and venture term loan structures
- Demonstrated ability to apply a risk-and-return mindset in dynamic environments
- Experience interacting with regulators and auditors
- Confidence challenging and supporting partners on modelling assumptions
- Experience in portfolio management, including monitoring sector trends
