Your job is more than a job The Pharmacist Lead provides immediate supervision of the daily workflow of the pharmacy department. Assists with operational functioning of the department and staffing. Provides the needed services to meet the needs of the patient care areas, ancillary departments serviced by the pharmacy within the hospital and outpatient clinics. GENERAL DUTIES Supervisory: Works on-line providing supervision and monitoring of the daily operational activities within the pharmacy department. Responsible for the scheduling, time management, and attendance for pharmacists, technicians, and interns. Serves as the on-call designee for pharmacy operations. Assists in interviewing, hiring operational pharmacy staff, and performing staff evaluations. Operations: Assists in the planning, coordinating, and troubleshooting activities designed to improve the process comprising the pharmacy department's basic operations. Assists in daily operational duties including order verification/entry, intravenous compounding, checking technician's work, issuing narcotics, and reviewing controlled drug reports, etc. to ensure smooth running of pharmacy. Responsible for the implementation of new procedures for the operational staff as developed by the Operations and Clinical Managers. Education/Competencies: Provides on-going professional staff development via meeting and in-services. Responsible for orientation, education of all newly hired pharmacists and technicians. Oversees regulatory compliance, ensures all staff pharmacists, technicians, and students comply with institutional or hospital policies. Keeps accurate and complete records of all competencies. Quality Improvement: Assist leaders in investigating incidents reports. Assist the Controlled Substance Pharmacist in reviewing controlled substance discrepancies. EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS Preferred: 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience. (TOURO) EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS Required: Degree from US accredited School of Pharmacy.
