About The Role

As a Field Application Engineer for IoT solutions, you will support the deployment and adoption of new products and customer-specific solutions, while ensuring the performance and quality of existing installations through on-site customer visits and technical assessments. Leveraging your end-to-end expertise across IoT devices, wireless networks, cloud services, and software applications, you will act as a key technical interface between customers and product development as part of the IoT System Engineering Team.

Main roles

  • Assist in transitioning product prototypes into production and provide feedback to R&D teams.
  • Support the deployment and installation of new products and solutions, working closely with customer project managers.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers and internal teams during deployment and early adoption phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices to help customers maximize the value of the solution.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with development teams on resolutions.
  • Conduct on-site visits for installation support, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.
  • Identify risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor customer solutions and ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Develop and improve on-site troubleshooting processes and best practices.
  • Document, track and escalate issues when required.
  • Create and maintain troubleshooting guides, deployment procedures, and knowledge base articles.

Education

  • University or Higher Technical College in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or other STEM or equivalent experience 

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Application Engineer or in a similar technical customer-facing role, such as Technical Support Engineer, Sales Engineer, Product Manager, or Technical Account Manager, preferably within IoT, consumer electronics, or SaaS environments.
  • Solid technical understanding and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Good knowledge of IoT technologies and networking, including wireless communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, and LoRa.
  • Experience with software troubleshooting, basic coding or scripting, log analysis tools (e.g., Azure Kusto Query Language, Sumo Logic, Splunk), and Linux environments.

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to manage projects, coordinate multiple tasks, and deliver results within agreed timelines.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the flexibility to adapt to evolving technologies and business needs.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to process, interpret, and derive insights from complex datasets.
  • Fluent German and good knowledge of English
  • Willingness to travel ( up to 40%)
  • Independent and solution-oriented working style

For the advertised position, the collective agreement (KV) minimum base salary is € 3,954,00 gross per month, with a willingness to pay above the KV depending on actual qualifications (for full-time employment).
