Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing

The Photography & Videography Consultant will support the IOM Sudan Mission in general in the production of AV content, and post-production, events, archiving, digital optimization, and supporting visual materials under the overall supervision of the Programme Support Unit, and direct supervision of the Head of Communications Unit, and in close coordination with the Programmes Managers

Tasks to be performed under this contract

  • Plan and undertake field visits across project sites to independently collect high-quality audio-visual content, including photographs, raw video footage, and audio recordings of IOM activities and beneficiaries.
  • Independently edit, post-produce, and package short video features, human-interest stories, reels, photo essays, and audio-visual assets tailored for social media and external communications.
  • Operate and maintain professional media equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting, and recording tools) ensuring high technical standards during field and event coverage.
  • Provide comprehensive photography, videography, and live media support for mission events, campaigns, official visits, and press briefings.
  • Ensure all AV products and visual materials strictly adhere to IOM branding, editorial standards, and donor visibility requirements.
  • Organize, tag, and maintain the mission’s central audio-visual media archive, ensuring raw and processed files are systematically backed up and accessible.
  • Format and optimize existing AV assets and graphic materials for various digital platforms, donor reports, and campaign publications.
  • Design supporting visual communication materials, including social media graphics, infographics, presentation slides, and visibility items in line with IOM branding guidelines.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned .

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Multimedia, Film/Video Production, Audio-Visual Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with at least two (2) years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with at least four (4) years of relevant professional experience in field-based photography, videography, and video editing

Experience

  • Proven hands-on experience as a Photographer/Videographer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end video editing and photo post-processing.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting field visits independently to gather raw audio-visual materials, human-interest stories, and photo essays, ideally within humanitarian, development, or international settings.
  • Proven track record in operating multimedia equipment (DSLR/Mirrorless cameras, audio gear, lighting, stabilizer rigs) under field conditions.
  • Solid experience in graphic design and developing visual materials (infographics, social media assets, posters) is considered a strong distinct advantage.
  • Experience in covering events, producing short-form video content (e.g., reels, short documentaries), and optimizing content for social media channels.

Skills

Advanced proficiency in non-linear video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve) and photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).

Practical knowledge of graphic design and desktop publishing tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Canva).

Excellent writing and editing skills, including human interest stories, social media captions, etc.

Managing social media accounts of reputable organizations

Languages

  • For this consultancy, Fluency in English and Arabic is required
  • Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes

IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
