About The Role

Boiler & Steam-Water Chemistry Management

  • Monitor and maintain boiler water, feed water, condensate, and steam chemistry parameters within prescribed limits.
  • Ensure compliance with plant chemistry guidelines and OEM recommendations.
  • Perform routine chemical testing and analysis for pH, conductivity, silica, hardness, phosphate, dissolved oxygen, iron, copper, and alkalinity.
  • Support optimization of boiler chemical dosing systems and treatment programs.
  • Identify chemistry deviations and recommend corrective actions.

FGD Chemistry & Process Monitoring

  • Monitor FGD process chemistry including limestone slurry quality, gypsum quality, chloride levels, sulfite/sulfate balance, and pH control.
  • Ensure optimum reagent consumption and process efficiency.
  • Analyze FGD effluent quality and support wastewater treatment system operations.
  • Assist in troubleshooting scaling, corrosion, fouling, and process upsets within FGD systems.

Laboratory Operations

  • Conduct laboratory testing and chemical analysis using standard methodologies.
  • Ensure calibration and upkeep of laboratory instruments and analyzers.
  • Maintain records of analytical results and prepare chemistry performance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards and procedures.

Water Treatment Plant Support

  • Monitor DM Plant, RO Plant, Condensate Polishing Unit (CPU), and water treatment systems.
  • Support regeneration activities and performance monitoring of ion exchange systems.
  • Track chemical consumption and inventory management.

Operational Excellence

  • Support root cause analysis of chemistry-related issues.
  • Participate in plant shutdowns, startups, preservation activities, and commissioning support.
  • Drive initiatives for chemical optimization, efficiency improvement, and cost reduction.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, and Environment teams.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and usage of chemicals.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations, pollution control norms, and safety procedures.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.

Technical Skills Must Have

  • Strong knowledge of Boiler Water Chemistry and Steam-Water Cycle Chemistry.
  • Hands-on experience in FGD Process Chemistry.
  • Knowledge of Cooling Water Chemistry and Water Treatment Systems.
  • Experience in DM Plant, RO Plant, CPU, and ETP operations.
  • Understanding of corrosion, scaling, fouling, and deposition mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of chemical dosing systems and treatment programs.
  • Familiarity with power plant chemistry standards and operating procedures.
  • Experience in laboratory chemical analysis and reporting.

Experience

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in Thermal Power Plants.
  • Experience in Boiler Chemistry, Water Chemistry, and FGD Operations.
  • Exposure to large utility thermal power plants will be preferred.

Preferred Certifications

  • Water Treatment & Boiler Chemistry Certification (Preferred)
  • Industrial Safety Training
  • ISO/Internal Auditor Exposure (Preferred)
