BASIC FUNCTION
Incumbent is responsible for all scheduling tasks within the Medical Unit. Supports the administrative assistants as needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receives and screens incoming phone calls. Accurately schedules requested appointments according to established protocol. Transfers calls within the department appropriately based on patient individual status and needs.
- Performs administrative duties required to provide adequate patient care.
- Notifies patients of changes to appointments or provider availability as needed. Responsible to handle appropriately any/all communications necessary for patient care, both incoming and outgoing.
- Generates memos, work/school notes, reports, and other correspondence as needed.
- Records all information necessary for patient care accurately, and ensures timely entry of all required data into the electronic health record.
- Documents all patient contacts according to the provisions of HIPAA and the Privacy Act of 1974.
- Directs patients through the medical unit when necessary.
- Performs general medical office duties. Responsible for all general maintenance, housekeeping, material stocking, and cleaning as needed in order to maintain a clean and sanitary workplace for the delivery of patient care.
- Participates and promotes Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) guidelines and procedures.
- Promotes a cooperative and cohesive workplace environment to maintain high quality services to patients.
- Upholds and promotes the value and integrity of the Seneca Nation Health System’s mission statement. Will promote SNHS in a positive manner.
- Provides care through a trauma-informed lens by incorporating key principles of both physical and psychological environment safety, trustworthiness and transparency, collaboration of decision-making during treatment plan developments, empowerment of patients by recognizing and building upon individual strengths, as well as recognizing and respecting the diversity of cultural backgrounds and sensitivity.
- Attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
- Follows all policies and procedures of the department, Seneca Nation, and Seneca Nation Health System.

- Excellent computer skills and typing skills with word processing and/or spreadsheet experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two or more years experience in clerical work, customer service or related field required.
- Experience in a large hospital, academic medical center, outpatient health care setting, or Indian Health Service (IHS)/tribal health, preferred.
