About The Role

The Supplier Quality Engineer creates values by supporting supplier quality initiatives that enable the business or function to achieve its operational and strategic supplier quality goals.

Consulted and Involved in the selection, management, development, problem solving, and assurance of defect-free performance of the assigned direct material supplier chain. The objective of this work is to collaborate with the supplier and shadow and partner with other resources at Atmus to support the use of quality improvement tools and methods aimed at the achievement of zero defects performance.

Participates as a team member in the supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing process development with coaching and guidance.

Assists in the supplier corrective action process including containment, fault tree analysis / identification of assignable cause, root cause analysis, and permanent corrective actions with oversight and guidance.

Assists suppliers on the use of quality tools especially the Product Parts Approval Process.

Collaborates with suppliers to ensure all product requirements are understood and met, and coaches supplier to meet the requirements of the Atmus Supplier Handbook with guidance from others.

Reviews the supplier quality resources for low risk new product introduction and current products to reduce supplier related issues, improve process capabilities, and ensure timely project launches.

Responsible for determining that all requirements are met by the supplier for new or changed products with coaching and guidance from others and are typically focused on Value Package Change Requests and associated Production Part Approval Process requirements with some involvement on low risk Value Package Introduction and related Advanced Product Quality Planning activities.

Understands the measurement of supplier quality performance according to established procedures and collaborates with suppliers to identify appropriate improvements to meet established targets.

Collaborates with suppliers on their continuous improvement activities to reduce defects.

College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Minimal level of relevant work experience required.
