Founding Engineer (Full Stack)

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage construction technology startup using AI to automate blueprint analysis, material takeoffs, and cost estimation. You'll be a core member of a small team, shaping both the product and the engineering culture from the ground up — work that directly impacts how the construction industry approaches pre-construction workflows.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build intuitive, polished UIs that surface computer vision model outputs to end users.
• Tackle complex geometry rendering, streaming systems, and sophisticated user interactions.
• Rapidly ship prototypes and iterate continuously based on real user feedback.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Proven experience taking products from 0 to 1, ideally with traction or paying customers.
• Strong frontend foundation in React and TypeScript, with solid full-stack capabilities.
• Proficiency in Python and comfort with open-ended, math-oriented problem solving.
• Strong CS fundamentals — an exceptional project portfolio can stand in for a formal degree.
• Experience as a founding engineer or early employee at a startup.
• Familiarity with Tailwind CSS for building responsive, utility-first UIs is a plus.
• Background in construction, real estate, or PDF/document workflows is a bonus.
• Prior founder experience or an impact-driven mindset is highly valued.
• Exceptional recent graduates who are fast learners and highly motivated are encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range: $100,000 – $180,000 USD annually. Equity is expected given the founding-team nature of the role. Visa sponsorship is not available.

LOCATION

On-site in San Francisco, California, USA — five days a week in-person collaboration expected.
