Job Summary

The Tax Coordinator is responsible for supporting the preparation, filing, and maintenance of tax-related documentation and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role involves coordinating tax data, assisting with audits, and maintaining accurate records for reporting and compliance purposes. The Tax Coordinator works autonomously and may coordinate the activities of other professional-level staff, especially in non-routine situations.

Coordinate and support the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including sales and use tax, property tax, and business licenses.

Maintain and update tax records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Assist in the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits.

Monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely submission of all required filings.

Reconcile tax accounts and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with internal departments and external agencies.

Conduct research on tax regulations and assist in implementing changes to ensure compliance.

Support the tax team in special projects, including tax planning and process improvements.

Liaise with external consultants, auditors, and tax authorities as needed.

Utilize tax software and ERP systems to manage data and generate reports.

Provide administrative support to the tax department, including document management and correspondence.

Skills & Qualifications

Typically requires advanced vocational training (or equivalent experience) and several years of relevant work experience to carry out the role.

Required Skills

  • Solid understanding of tax principles and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Vertex, or similar).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and handle non-routine situations with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with tax research tools and databases is a plus.
  • Experience in a shared services or corporate tax environment is preferred.
