The Opportunity

The Overlays team is responsible for designing, implementing and managing the Future Fund's overlay portfolio, utilising derivatives to facilitate portfolio completion and hedging activities across the organisation's investment portfolios. As a senior member of the team, you will help shape the strategic direction of these programs and influence portfolio-level decisions across the Fund.

You'll work closely with senior investment professionals across the agency while maintaining relationships with some of the world's leading investment managers, counterparties and market participants. You'll be challenged to think broadly, constructively challenge existing views and contribute ideas that enhance outcomes across the total portfolio.

You will

• Play a leading role in the construction and evolution of the Future Fund's whole-of-portfolio overlay program.
• Provide deep subject matter expertise across derivatives markets, market structure, portfolio implementation and risk management.
• Influence strategic portfolio decisions and identify opportunities arising from changing market conditions.
• Lead and strengthen relationships with external managers, counterparties and market participants.
• Drive excellence in portfolio implementation, transaction oversight and execution quality.
• Communicate complex market and portfolio concepts to a range of stakeholders across the organisation.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to the ongoing development of a high-performing and collaborative team.

About You

You are an accomplished investment professional with deep expertise in derivatives markets and a strong track record operating in complex institutional investment environments.

We're looking for candidates with

• A relevant tertiary qualification and significant experience operating at a senior level within trading, portfolio management or derivatives risk management environments.
• Extensive experience across derivatives markets, ideally spanning both linear and non-linear instruments and multiple asset classes.
• Deep understanding of market structure, instrument pricing and counterparties.
• A proven ability to generate ideas, shape investment decisions and challenge thinking in complex environments.
• Strong commercial judgement and experience managing strategic internal and external relationships.
• The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• A collaborative leadership style with a commitment to developing others.
