O'Hagan Meyer is seeking an Associate Attorney with 2-3+ years of litigation experience to join our growing Norfolk, Virginia office. We are looking for a motivated attorney who is eager to take ownership of cases, develop courtroom skills, and work alongside experienced litigators on challenging and diverse defense matters.

What You'll Work On

Our associates handle a wide range of complex litigation matters, including

  • Business and commercial litigation
  • General liability defense
  • Labor and employment matters
  • Medical malpractice defense
  • Products liability litigation
  • Other sophisticated civil litigation matters

You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients, take on significant responsibility early in your career, and develop practical litigation skills through every phase of the case lifecycle.

Salary range: $125K - $140K base salary + bonus opportunity

Actual base pay within this range will be determined by several components, including but not limited to, location, relevant experience, internal equity, skills, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
  • Manage discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Represent clients at mediations, hearings, and other proceedings
  • Assist with trial strategy, preparation, and courtroom presentations
  • Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and colleagues
  • Handle court appearances, arbitrations, site inspections, and other litigation-related activities

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years of experience in commercial litigation, general liability litigation, or related practice areas
  • Experience practicing before state and federal courts preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and client-service abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach and strong professional judgment
  • Active admission to the Virginia State Bar (required)
