General Purpose of Job

To perform washing, general cleaning, and storage functions of the Food and Nutrition Service department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
Responsible for starting the dish machine, filling all tanks, and ensuring proper operations of the equipment.
Responsible for cleaning of dish machine as assigned (i.e. de-liming of hard water).
Must follow proper procedures for washing of dishes in machine or in the three-compartment sink (i.e. using correct scraping procedures, cleaning solutions, and proper racks.
Handles equipment (dishes, pots/pans, etc.) with caution to prevent damage and breakage.
Returns all clean dishes to proper location after cleaning.
Responsible for cleaning all floors and heavy equipment used in the department.
Assists Warehouseman with storage and stocking of food and supplies as needed.
Assures that all trash in department is collected and taken to proper location.
Attends all department and hospital in-services as required.
Performs special cleaning and other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
