What You Will Do
The Senior Compressor Engineer is a mechanical engineering position within the centrifugal compressor engineering team. This position offers a great opportunity for professional growth and advancement. Duties require applying mechanical engineering fundamentals to the design, development, analysis, and testing of rotating machinery and sub-components. A major focus of activities will be on cost reductions, performance improvements, and enhanced reliability of new and existing products. This position reports to the compressor engineering manager and will collaborate closely with a multi-functional technical team to support overall product development initiatives. In addition, the successful candidate will benefit from close professional collaboration with highly experienced senior engineers and staff within the department.
Role will primarily be focused on centrifugal compressors for chillers.
How You Will Do It
- Take direction from manager and senior mechanical engineers.
- Provide guidance to test operators and interface with compressor technicians.
- Perform data collection and analysis.
- Work collaboratively with other JCI engineering groups to develop new products.
- Interface with product managers, project managers, product technical support associates, and multiple international manufacturing plants.
- Be a subject matter expert for centrifugal compressors when communicating with customers, chiller and applications engineers, manufacturing, field service personnel.
- Lead design improvement/enhancement efforts for performance, functionality, manufacturability, reliability, and cost reductions.
- Assist in various assigned projects within the compressor engineering department as necessary.
- Understand and follow all relative safety procedures and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Adhere to the Company's Business Ethics and Safety standards.
Qualifications
- External
What we look for
Required
- Required BS in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant degree
- High mechanical aptitude
- The ability to obtain a passport for international travel
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
- This is an onsite position at the Pune engineering facility
Preferred
MS in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant degree
Centrifugal compressor component/assembly design experience
Knowledge of machining practices for large precision components.
Familiarity with the quality engineering discipline in general and the 8D process, DFMEA, fault Tree Analysis tools specifically.
Working knowledge and experience with Rotordynamic critical speed analysis.
