About The Role
- Position and Purpose
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all logistics, import/export, customs clearance, transportation, and supply chain activities. The role holder ensures efficient and compliant movement of goods, equipment, and materials across local and international markets while maintaining full compliance with UAE Customs and JAFZA regulations.
The position requires strong operational expertise in freight forwarding, shipping documentation, customs procedures, warehouse coordination, and supplier management. The Logistics Manager serves as the key point of contact between suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, transport companies, and internal departments to ensure smooth and cost-effective logistics operations.
- Organisational Setup
- Direct reporting line to the Managing Director
- Close cooperation with Finance, Procurement, Sales, Project Execution, and Operations departments
- Coordination with freight forwarders, customs brokers, transport companies, shipping lines, and port authorities
- Responsibility for managing logistics activities across Mainland and Freezone operations
- Interface with UAE Customs, JAFZA authorities, and other regulatory bodies
- Key Responsibilities
- 3.1 Logistics & Supply Chain Operations
- Manage daily logistics and supply chain operations for import and export shipments
- Coordinate international and local shipments via sea freight, air freight, and land transportation
- Monitor shipment schedules, ETAs, cargo movement, and delivery timelines
- Ensure smooth coordination between suppliers, warehouses, transporters, and project teams
- Develop and improve logistics processes to enhance operational efficiency and cost control
- 3.2 JAFZA & Customs Compliance
- Full responsibility for JAFZA logistics procedures, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Handle customs clearance procedures for import and export shipments within UAE
Mainland and JAFZA
- Coordinate gate passes, customs declarations, and Freezone documentation
- Ensure compliance with UAE Customs regulations, JAFZA procedures, and international shipping standards
- Maintain strong working knowledge of changing customs and trade regulations
- 3.3 Shipping Documentation & Freight Coordination
Preparation and review of shipping documentation including
- Bill of Lading (BL)
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Certificate of Origin
- Export / Import Declarations
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and transport providers
- Negotiate freight rates and logistics service agreements with suppliers and logistics partners
- Ensure accurate shipment tracking and logistics documentation management
- 3.4 Warehouse & Transportation Coordination
- Coordinate inland transportation, port handling, and warehouse activities
- Monitor loading, unloading, and delivery schedules for materials and equipment
- Ensure proper handling and storage of goods in compliance with company and regulatory requirements Resolve shipment delays, customs issues, and operational challenges efficiently
- 3.5 Cost Control & Reporting
- Monitor logistics costs and support Finance with invoice verification and cost reporting
- Identify cost-saving opportunities within logistics and transportation activities
- Maintain accurate logistics records, shipment tracking systems, and operational reports
- Support management with logistics performance analysis and operational reporting
- 3.6 Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Sales and Operations teams regarding shipment planning and customer delivery schedules
- Support project teams with timely material delivery and logistics planning
- Ensure effective communication between internal departments and external logistics partners
- Candidate Profile
4.1 Education
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or comparable field
- 4.2 Professional Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in logistics, freight forwarding, import/export, or supply chain management
- Mandatory hands-on experience with JAFZA operations and procedures
- Strong experience with UAE Customs regulations and import/export compliance
- Experience handling international freight operations including sea freight, air freight, and land transportation
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or project-driven environments is strongly preferred
- 4.3 Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of
- JAFZA regulations and procedures
- UAE Customs regulations
- Import/export documentation4. International shipping and freight processes
- Incoterms and international trade compliance
- Experience with logistics management systems and ERP systems
- Very good MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities
