After-School Program Counselor

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage children and youth in after-school activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment
• Plan and implement age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities
• Foster positive relationships with participants, parents, and staff to promote a welcoming atmosphere
• Enforce program rules and safety procedures consistently
• Support children in their social, emotional, and academic development
• Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
• Collaborate with team members to create a dynamic and supportive program environment

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or experience in child development or education is a plus
• Previous experience working with children or in youth programs preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing needs
• Reliable, responsible, and punctual
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• DCF 45 hours (or willingness to obtain within the first 90 days)
