  • As a Software Engineer on the WEX Benefits Technology team, you will work in a team
  • that partners closely with Product Managers and customers to learn about the
  • challenges employers face while navigating the competitive employee benefits
  • landscape. You will design solutions that solve problems in ways our customers love
  • and work for our business. You will build the highest quality software in the latest
  • technologies and test driven development practices.
  • How you’ll make an impact
  • ● Collaborate with stakeholders to learn about our customers biggest challenges.
  • ● Measure, inspect, and drive decisions using data.
  • ● Design, test, code, and instrument new solutions.
  • ● Strengthen and drive our engineering process with TDD and BDD, Microservice
  • and Vertical Slice Architectures.

  • ● Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • ● Strong experience in design and implementation of scalable and reliable software
  • solutions using modern backend languages (such as C#, Python, Java, or .NET),
  • leveraging distributed systems architecture to solve complex problems.
  • ● Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design,
  • and problem-solving skills.
  • ● Proficiency in React.
  • ● Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
  • ● Proven track record of writing comprehensive unit tests and test suites.
  • ● Strong understanding of software security principles and OWASP guidelines.
  • ● Proficiency with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • ● Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • ● Track record of delivering complex projects on schedule.
  • ● Experience in writing performant stored procedures and functions.
  • ● Experience in developing Cloud-Native applications and services.
  • ● You write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Agentic Development & AI Trends
  • ● LLM Awareness: Familiarity with LLM concepts and frameworks like LangChain
  • or LlamaIndex. You’ve experimented with or built basic RAG-based applications.
  • ● Emerging Protocols: A desire to learn and implement new standards like the
  • Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • ● Agentic Workflows: Interest in how autonomous agents function, including tool-
  • use (function calling) and state management.
  • ● Data Retrieval: Basic understanding of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus)
  • and how search impacts AI performance.
  • ● AI-Ops: Experience building "AI-native" features, including automated LLM-
  • based evaluations within the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Cloud & CI/CD Mastery
  • ● Cloud Consoles: Hands-on experience working in Azure or AWS services like
  • IAM, S3/Blob, and compute instances.
  • ● Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Basic experience with Terraform. You can read,
  • modify, and deploy infrastructure modules.
  • ● CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins. You
  • understand how to automate the build-test-deploy lifecycle.
  • ● Observability: Basic experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana,
  • or cloud-native solutions (CloudWatch/Azure Monitor)
  • Leadership & Education
  • ● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a
  • related technical field.
  • ● Team Player: Ability to work effectively in an agile environment, participating in
  • sprint planning and daily stand-ups.
  • ● Continuous Learner: A strong desire to stay current with the rapidly changing AI
  • and cloud landscape.
  • ● Collaboration: A proven track record of collaborating across autonomous teams
  • to drive the adoption of new technologies.
  • ● Communication: Ability to clearly communicate technical trade-offs to both fellow
  • engineers and stakeholders.
  • ● Experience working with geographically distributed teams

Technology Must-Haves

  • ● C# and associated technologies, Python (if applicable)
