About The Role
Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew, we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.
We are looking for an experienced transformation leader to shape the future of Manufacturing Operations across our global business. As IT Director, Global Manufacturing & Produce-to-Inventory Transformation , you will lead the digital transformation of manufacturing, quality, production planning, warehousing and inventory capabilities through our enterprise SAP S/4HANA programme.
This is a strategic leadership role operating at the intersection of Operations, Manufacturing and Technology. You will partner with senior business leaders to define the future-state operating model, standardise processes across our global manufacturing network and ensure technology enables operational excellence, scalability and business growth.
This role demands someone who can look beyond systems implementation to drive meaningful business transformation, challenge legacy ways of working and influence senior stakeholders across a complex global environment.
What You'll Be Doing
You will take ownership of Smith+Nephew's global Produce-to-Inventory (P2I) solution domain, driving the transformation of manufacturing and operational capabilities across our global network.
Key responsibilities include

- Leading business process transformation enabled by SAP S/4HANA across our manufacturing footprint.
- Partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations and Supply Chain leaders to develop scalable global processes and standards.
- Driving simplification, harmonisation and standardisation of manufacturing operations across sites and regions.
- Shaping global template design decisions and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology strategy.
- Challenging legacy processes and systems while identifying opportunities to improve operational performance and business outcomes.
- Leading and developing a high-performing team of architects and transformation specialists.
- Building strong relationships with executive stakeholders and influencing strategic decision-making at senior leadership level.
- Ensuring technology investments deliver measurable business value, operational excellence and long-term scalability.
- -
- Success in this role will be measured by the business outcomes delivered across our manufacturing network, not simply the systems implemented.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
To succeed in this role, you will bring a blend of deep transformation expertise, manufacturing knowledge and leadership capability.
You will have
- Significant experience leading enterprise-scale SAP-enabled Manufacturing or Operations transformations.
- Strong understanding of Produce-to-Inventory business processes, including Manufacturing, Production Planning, Quality Management, Warehouse Management and Inventory Management.
- Experience defining and owning global solution strategies within large, complex organisations.
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive strategic decision-making.
- A track record of leading large-scale business transformation programmes rather than standalone technology projects.
- Experience simplifying technology landscapes and standardising business processes across global operations.
- Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing teams in global environments.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to align technology decisions to business outcomes.
