Student Center Worker Job Description and Justification for Increase Position Title: Student Center Worker Department: Student Center Original Student Worker Rate: $17.99 per hour Proposed Hourly Rate: $19.00 per hour Increase: $1.01 per hour Percentage Increase: Approximately 5.6% Maximum Hours: 20 hours per week Position Summary The Student Center Worker provides front-line operational, customer service, event, and facility support for the Student Center. Student Center Workers play an important role in maintaining a welcoming, professional, safe, and student-focused environment for students, faculty, staff, guests, and community visitors. The position requires students to perform a variety of responsibilities across Student Center operations, including front desk coverage, guest assistance, facility monitoring, event support, room setups and breakdowns, and general operational assignments. Student Center Workers work under the direction of professional Student Center staff and may receive day-to-day guidance from designated Student Worker Leads. Minimum Qualifications Must be a currently enrolled student in good academic standing. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, staff, guests, and visitors. Dependable, punctual, and able to follow established schedules and procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow instructions and appropriately report concerns to Student Worker Leads or professional staff. Willingness to learn Student Center policies, procedures, programs, and services. Ability to assist with event setups and other operational responsibilities. Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends based on Student Center operational and event needs. Primary Responsibilities The Student Center Worker will: Provide front desk and customer service coverage within the Student Center. Welcome and assist students, faculty, staff, guests, and visitors. Answer routine questions and provide information regarding Student Center programs, services, facilities, and events. Provide directional assistance and help visitors navigate Student Center and University spaces. Assist with monitoring common areas and other assigned Student Center spaces. Support daily opening, operating, and closing activities as assigned. Assist with room setups and breakdowns for meetings, programs, and special events. Assist with tables, chairs, signage, supplies, and other event materials. Provide event-day guest services, registration, directional assistance, and crowd-flow support. Help maintain clean, organized, professional, and welcoming public areas. Monitor assigned areas and promptly report maintenance, facility, safety, or security concerns. Follow Student Center policies, procedures, customer service standards, and workplace expectations. Assist with basic administrative tasks and special projects. Participate in required training and staff meetings. Work collaboratively with professional staff, Student Worker Leads, and fellow student employees. Perform other related duties as assigned.
