This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Accountant (US Accounting) based in Brazil.
This is a high-ownership accounting role within a fast-growing, AI-native technology <environment.You> will take ownership of daily and monthly financial operations while building scalable processes from the ground up.The role covers close, cash management, forecasting, accounts receivable, reporting, payroll, and <compliance.You> will also help introduce AI-powered workflows and automation to make the finance function more efficient.This is an opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and working with limited <bureaucracy.You> will partner with leadership and non-finance teams, translating financial information into clear and actionable business insights.The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving environment where ownership, judgment, documentation, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
Accountabilities
- Own the end-to-end month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Monitor and report the daily cash position to leadership and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast.
- Review expenses, spending commitments, payment requests, and payment lists while maintaining appropriate financial controls.
- Manage accounts receivable and collections activities to support healthy cash flow.
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages, including variance analysis and actionable financial insights.
- Develop and maintain approval matrices, payment procedures, and other finance policies and standard operating procedures.
- Own recurring revenue reporting, including MRR, ARR, and retention metrics.
- Build and implement AI-powered workflows and automation to improve efficiency across the finance function.
- Maintain the tax and filing compliance calendar and ensure key deadlines are tracked and addressed.
- Manage monthly payroll and headcount reviews, ensuring financial records remain accurate and aligned with workforce changes.
- Improve and document financial processes so they can be consistently followed and scaled across the organization.
- Communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and help leadership make informed business decisions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of accounting experience working directly with U.S.-based companies.
- Strong practical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, demonstrated through real-world accounting decisions and financial reporting experience.
- Experience converting accounting records from cash to accrual or cleaning up books that were not GAAP compliant.
- Proven experience owning the month-end close process from start to finish.
- Demonstrated ability to build a cash forecast from scratch and use it to support business planning.
- Strong working proficiency with QuickBooks.
- Experience designing or implementing AI-powered workflows or automation to improve accounting or finance processes.
- Ability to explain financial concepts clearly and translate accounting information into practical business language.
- Experience implementing new processes and gaining adoption from stakeholders outside the finance team.
- Strong judgment regarding which responsibilities to delegate and which activities require hands-on ownership.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
- Comfortable making informed decisions with incomplete information and clearly explaining the reasoning behind them.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the confidence to raise concerns and challenge assumptions when appropriate.
- Comfortable working EST or PST hours.
- Experience with SaaS revenue is a plus, as is familiarity with Ramp, <Bill.com>, Deel, or Stripe.
- CPA certification is considered a bonus.
