About The Role
Job Summary
The Assistant Director, International Accounting is responsible for supporting and leading regional financial reporting, planning, forecasting, statutory accounting, compliance, and operational finance processes for the Mexico and Caribbean vacation ownership segment. This position provides oversight and guidance for US GAAP, Mexican GAAP, local country-specific statutory accounting, and reporting requirements. The Assistant Director acts as a key liaison with MVW Finance & Accounting teams, Mexico HR, Treasury, Operations, internal and external auditors, internal and external legal counsel, and business consultants to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, operational alignment, and timely completion of regional deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, oversight, and direction for key accounting, statutory reporting, compliance, and operational finance processes and related deliverables for the vacation ownership segment business operations.
- Entity accounting for regional entities to support compliance with US GAAP and local GAAP requirements,
- Partner with Mexico HR on payroll-related payments and statutory reporting required by government authorities,
- Coordinate with internal and external legal counsel on entity structures, agreements, contracts, and compliance matters,
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to support accurate financial reporting and timely audit completion,
- Support regional HR and operational finance activities related to Mexico owner services groups,
- Monitor regional business performance and identify financial, accounting, compliance, and process improvement opportunities.
- Performs and reviews analytical assessments, including variance analyses, trend analyses, sensitivity analyses, and comparability reports for key accounting, assumption, compliance, or business changes.
- Establishes and monitors key controls to ensure accurate, complete, and consistent data and analysis for internal and external reporting, including coordination with Treasury, Investor Relations, and other key stakeholders as needed.
- Strengthens alignment of financials with underlying business operations.
- Ensures the development of an atmosphere of strong financial controls and compliance, driving adherence to MVW policies and procedures, proactively identifying and rectifying areas for improvement.
- Assists senior management with ad hoc special projects as requested.
- Leads, develops, coaches, and supports finance, accounting, and statutory reporting associates to strengthen team capability and continuity for regional operations.
- Creates a strong atmosphere of teamwork and associate satisfaction.

Specific Candidate Profile
Education/Experience
- BS/BA in Finance, Accounting degree or related field r equ i red .
- MBA and/or CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of financial accounting, statutory reporting, compliance, or related finance experience.
- 5+ years of international accounting, reporting, statutory, or compliance experience preferred.
- Mexican accounting, statutory reporting, payroll-related compliance, and financial reporting experience a plus.
- People management or demonstrated team leadership experience, including coaching, training, and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
- Broad knowledge of MVW's global accounting and finance processes and systems.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong track record of leadership experience in diverse, fast changing environments.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel and Access.
- Strong business acumen, service orientation and excellent communication skills.
- Strong analytical and process management skills.
- Bilingual with fluency in English and Spanish.
- Effectively lead and guide Orlando based team and teams based in various regions of Mexico.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial accounting and reporting, budgeting and financial analysis.
- Highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities at any given point in time.
- Make decisions in a timely manner sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure. Comfortable challenging organizational norms and accepted thinking to improve effectiveness.
- Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders in order to foster trust and influence key decisions.

- Able to translate business needs into operational finance.
