About The Role
What is the job : As a Maintenance Associate with Avient, you are responsible for completing maintenance assignments to build, repair and/or maintain all equipment in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible; while keeping associated costs to a minimum to help meet Plant goals. To be successful in this role you should be multi-skilled and able to contribute to plant maintenance activities in a variety of craft disciplines.

Essential Functions
- Completes electrical projects; design and installs.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and correct as required. Must be capable of reading electrical schematics.
- Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments, repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Sets up and operates shop machinery such as drill press, grinders, band saws, cutting torch, welder. etc. Uses hand tools and pneumatic tools to modify or repair parts and equipment. - Installs new or repairs/modify hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as needed.
- Operates the cooling water system.
- Researches supplies, parts and machines needed to complete work orders.
- Orders part on the company computer system.
- Assists in organizing and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
- Performs and documents work orders and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Maintains and keeps track of workload and assignments. Completes and maintains all required paperwork, records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings etc.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, General Education Diploma (GED), Associate’s Degree Preferred
- Technical School degree or equivalent experience
- Work experience in an industrial operations environment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, or procedure manuals
- Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Must have the ability to use conversions, work with different units such as weight, volume, density, distance, etc.
Physical Demands
- Requires standing and sitting for extended periods of time, talking and listening
- Must be able to walk and use hands. Occasionally requires bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs
- May occasionally be required to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to frequently communicate and understand work instructions and information in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where noise level is loud
- Must be able to detect and discern safety alarms and respond accordingly
- Generally requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat, respiratory protection
- Exposure to outside weather conditions is routine
- May be exposed to working in extreme heat and humidity
- May also be exposed on occasion to dust or fumes
Final compensation within this range may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
