$2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS - Dental Clinic - Monday-Thursday 7:30am - 6:00pm (1-2 days per week will have 6:30am start)

Salary

Most new hires start between $17.20-$21.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Registered Dental Assistant I assists the dentist in the treatment and care of dental patients and assists in educating patients in oral hygiene. Performs a variety of patient care, and laboratory duties, and works chairside as dentists examine and treat patients.

Required Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Recommended Education

Associate's degree or technical certificate in a related field of study.

  1. Makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records.
  2. Assistants hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
  3. Assists Dentist in the operating room as directed.
  4. Disinfects instruments and equipment, prepares trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instructs patients on postoperative and general oral health care.
  5. Prepares materials for impressions and restorations, takes dental x-rays, and processes x-ray film as directed by a dentist.
  6. Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  7. Handles instrument cleaning, sterilization/disinfection and re-circulation. Performs dental room/chair disinfection.
  8. Reviews consent and medical history prior to treatment.
  9. Reviews and maintains dental records documenting assessments and care provided.
  10. Assists in patient/family education through written and oral explanation.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.
