About The Role

Responsible for providing an exceptional level of customer service and maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and standards, including meeting established productivity standards. Responsible for the general merchandising of the department and the care and safe use of any tools or equipment required. This includes completing general housekeeping duties, assisting team members when necessary, and any other duties as assigned.

What you’ll do

Customer Service

  • Responsible for providing information, special order taking assistance, and exceptional customer service to all customers.
  • This includes responding to general inquiries regarding store promotions, product details (information), bulletins and updates.

Bakery Operations

  • When required provide / complete baking responsibilities.
  • Adhere to the FCL cake program and fulfill specialty cake orders in a timely manner.
  • As per FIM production requirements prepare, package and merchandise production items.
  • Organize and execute in-store cake promotions.
  • Maintain shelf and display stock and organize all goods intended for sale to meet established standards.
  • Inspect all received goods to ensure the quality and completeness of the order and when required order and receive products.
  • Update and maintain an accurate and proper markdown report.

General Cleaning and Other Duties

  • Ensure all tools and equipment required to complete assigned duties are well maintained and safe to use.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties (spills, display fixtures, etc.) to ensure all areas of responsibility are safe, organized, clean and tidy.
  • Responsible for keeping the sales floor and back stock area clean of cardboard and debris, including the disposal of garbage.
  • Report any concerns to the team leader for review before use.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who you are

Education

  • Completed Grade Twelve is required
  • Completion of a post-secondary program in professional baking is an asset
  • Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

Other Qualifications

  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Comfortable working in environments with exposure to heat, cold, flour dust, and bakery equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, recipes, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong alignment to the values of Homestead Co-op: Integrity, Excellence, and Responsibility

Conditions of Employment

  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Criminal Record check satisfactory to the employer
  • Ability to lift/pull/push/carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to work flexible shift times which include early mornings
