About The Role
JOB SUMMARY
The Reception / Intake Specialist i s res p onsible for coordinating offi c e a c t i vitie s, including: answering phone calls, medical records, data entry, maint a ining patient records, p r e p aring intake packets, coordinating telep h one cal l s and maintaining sufficien t office supplies. They a r e r esponsibl e fo r managing workf l ow in Home Care Home Ba s e to suppo r t oper a tions of the Agency. This p osit i on al s o r equires e s tablishing and maintaining positive r elatio n ships with all r elate d entities (internal staff, clinical field emp l oyees, cont ra ct staf f , patien t s/f a mili e s, referral s ources, etc) , responding to staf f requests/ c oncerns and maintaini n g inform a tio n to assi s t in t h e c oordinat i on of patient servi c es and staff availability. They are res p onsible fo r all aspects of t h e p atient int a ke p r ocess including the insurance ve r ification and a u thorizat i on proces s es.
DUTIES & RESP O NSIBI L ITI E S
- Maintains confidentiali t y of patient in f o r mat i on.
- Assists t h e Intake department by supplying staffing solutions to n e w pat i ent referrals.
- Maintains accurate up to d ate medica l re c ords in a ccordance wit h regulat i ons of Medica r e and the Poli c y and Procedure Manual.
- Communic a tes effectively on the te l ephone with pat i ents, f a milie s and staff.
- Answers in c oming calls an d for w ards to app r opriate staff perso n o r ta k es a message if th e person i s not availab l e.
- Wel c omes and assists all g uests.
- Assists with in c oming, o u tgo i ng and interoffi c e mail.
- Per f o r ms typing, faxing a n d coping ta s ks a s requested for variou s staf f per s ons.
- Inputs data into computer for billing purposes.
- Maintains acc u rate r ecord s o f medical equipment and supplies.
- Responsibl e fo r info r ming staff o f any changes, updates, etc. , regarding a d missio n s; discharges, visits, schedule s ; and clini c al meetings as directed b y the P r ogr a m Di r ector, Dir ec tor of Clinica l Services and/or A d ministr a tor.
- Tracks admiss i on, dischar g e, IDTs, c ertific a tion and r e-certificat i on da t es on all p atients.
- Assist w i th audits of patien t info r mation.

JOB REQ U IREMENTS (Education, Experie n ce, Knowl e dge, Skills & Abili t ies)
- High schoo l graduate or equivalent.
- Two years dat a ent r y expe r ience. Pr e viou s computer exper i ence, p r e f erably in hospice or s i mila r ope r ation.
- Pr e viou s health c are r elated billing experien c e.
- Ability to type 50 words p e r minute
- Word p r ocessing skills
- Per s onal c omputer skills
- Business machine knowle d ge
