Women's Health - Clinic Lab Tech

About The Role
The Lab Technician performs technical laboratory testing in the Clinic as requested by providers. Follows standard procedures for the various testing analysis, maintains equipment and supplies as needed. Collects specimens, draws blood and performs testing as requested. Generates laboratory reports and disseminates reports to requesting parties in a timely manner.
- Receives and collects blood and urine specimens following CLIA and OSHA guidelines.
- Performs STAT testing and conducts tests for evaluating health status as requested.
- Performs control testing on all laboratory equipment daily and maintains appropriate records as outlined by CLIA guidelines.
- Responsible for quality controls and conducts PRO testing in a timely manner.
- Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and orders; ordering when necessary.
- Inputs laboratory results in the computer system and files documentation as required.
- May perform supervisory functions or related work as directed by the Clinic Coordinator.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
- Enhances professional growth through in-service and educational programs
- Other duties as assigned
Education
- H.S. Diploma - Required
Work Experience
- 1 Year - Experience as a lab technician - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Upon Hire
Travel Requirements
- Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed. - Required
Skills and Abilities
Essential Technical/Motor Skills
- Able to speak clearly, perform fine motor skills, typing, answering telephone, precise eye-hand coordination, operating lab equipment.
Interpersonal Skills
- Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates with patients, families, physicians and co-workers in a professional manner.
- Ability to communicate in verbally and written.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Must move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift.
- Must follow good body mechanics.
- Use of finders adn ahnds to operate lab equipment.
- Lifting 30 lbs of paper products.
- Ability to stand/stoope to draw blood.
Essential Mental Abilities
- Ability to follow protocols specimen collection, interpret data, respond to inquiries, good organizational skills.
- Be able to work independently.
Essential Sensory Requirements
- Ability to visually assess patient condition; must be able to communicate with patient in order to assess condition and evaluate effects of care.
- Visual, hearing, feeling, smell.
- Visual ability to perform venipuncture, talking to patients and staff on the telephone in a clear adn concise manner.
Exposure to Hazards
- Infectious body fluids, hazardous chemicals and fumes, possible needle sticks.
- Possible eye and neck strain.
