About The Role
Hilltop Securities Inc. is currently looking for qualified students to join our Operations team as a Summer Intern. This individual will work closely with our Operations team to gain hands-on experience in the profession while assisting with several key initiatives across the company. They will develop entry-level experience in the financial services industry, including development and delivery of initiatives, and effective practices. Our Summer 2027 Internship Program is an in-person experience lasting from May 27, 2027 to July 30, 2027, with opportunities located in downtown Dallas at our HTS Tower location and throughout the country at various branch locations.
- Track Down and Categorize Invoices by Vendor.
- Analyze the processing flow for each invoice from origination to P/L.
- Provide recommendation on ways to improve centralized reporting on vendor spend.
- Map current invoices to contracts and contract schedules.
- Identify any unaccounted for spends.
- Participates in chart of accounts maintenance request/governance process to ensure consistency between corporate and line of business general ledgers and other accounting support systems (dig into this stuff; how general ledger and chart of accounts work and what is hitting what p/l, how information flows)
- Participates in and/or prepares reconciliations of various general ledger accounts to supporting documentation.
- Maintain existing internal controls over financial reporting and work with others in organization to review, improve and update key processes and related control descriptions.
- Prepares ad hoc analyses and completes other assignments as necessary.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in relevant discipline (Accounting, Finance, or related field).
- Strong PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products.
- Must have the ability to learn and utilize custom systems and applications.
- Ability to act and operate independently or within a team and adapt to changing deadlines and priorities.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to analyze work product, systems and processes at a detailed level.
