About The Role

Our Identity Now team is looking for a well-rounded Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with a focus on backend-end development. A successful SDET should have excellent troubleshooting skills, experience writing automation tests, creating extensive test cases, and be able to ensure that processes and products consistently meet established quality standards. We are looking for someone capable of driving several projects to completion from a QA perspective and a skilled technician that can also serve as a mentor to team. Responsibilities include designing automation testing best practices, quality standards & processes, manual testing of UI on web applications and maintaining healthy automation testing pipelines. We are looking for a visionary that delivers recommendations on how to evolve testing best practices within the organization that solve today’s problems with the future direction of product testing in mind. Responsibilities: Developing, promoting, and maintaining quality standards and quality control systems Collaborating with developers and engineering managers to develop best practices for automation testing Develop, enhance, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts to improve testing efficiency, coverage, and repeatability Assist in the creation and maintenance of testing environments Understand the features getting built and generate the test plan, test cases for the same Proactively help improve quality methodologies within the organization to increase efficiency and work with other QA resources to form best practices for how to test our products Perform manual verification of full feature testing ensuring quality across all supported devices Reviewing code, specifications, and processes related to testing Build out contract testing and contribute to API testing Generate comprehensive test reports and communicate test results, defect metrics, and quality status to stakeholders Monitoring and analyzing quality, performance and the health of our automation testing pipeline Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities Participate in planning sessions to gain knowledge of how to best create test plans for solutions designed. Requirements: 5-8 years of experience in quality engineering in testing enterprise software preferably in Java/JEE environment Experience writing test cases for manual verification of web applications. Experience writing Contract Testing/Automations with tools like Pact, Postman Experience with testing REST APIs in a microservice environment Experience in end to end automation testing in microservices setup Experience with AWS and testing SaaS applications Familiarity with SQL and NonSQL data stores. Familiarity with observability tools such as opensearch, grafana Familiarity with Jenkins and CI/CD workflows. Must have previous experience with requirements, defect, functional, and performance management systems. Self-starter familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience planning and executing multi-sprint tasks with experience using tools such as Jira and Confluence Familiarity with Java, golang is highly desirable Strong Communication and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Preferred: Experience using AI-powered IDEs (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) or LLMs to accelerate the creation of automated test scripts and boilerplate code. Familiarity with leveraging GenAI to transform Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) into comprehensive test plans, edge-case scenarios, and structured test suites. What success looks like in the role: Within the first 30 days you will: Onboard into your new role, get familiar with our product offering and technology, proactively meet peers and stakeholders, set up your test and development environment. Go through the product specific trainings to understand the product features Work with the buddy to understand specific team processes. By 90 days: Get deeper understanding of the specific functional area that you are part of Seek to deeply understand business problems Proactively collaborate on, discuss, debate and refine ideas, problem statements with different (sometimes many) stakeholders, architects and members of your team. Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to define test requirements, resolve issues, and ensure proper integration of testing processes. By 6 months: Occasionally serve as a debugging expert during escalations of systems issues that have evaded the ability of less experienced engineers to solve in a timely manner. Collaborates with Product Management and Engineering Manager to produce a prioritized team roadmap.
