About The Role

€45,000 per year | Full-time, permanent | County Meath | On-site

A confidential County Meath accountancy practice is seeking an Accountancy Technician to take ownership of recurring payroll and bookkeeping assignments for a varied client portfolio. This is a hands-on, client-facing role covering payroll, pensions, VAT and bookkeeping through to trial balance, with support from an experienced accounts team.

Your responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual payrolls accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll and pension returns.
  • Arrange online salary payments where required.
  • Maintain bookkeeping records through to trial balance.
  • Prepare VAT returns and supporting schedules for review.
  • Respond professionally to client queries and obtain information required to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate with accountants, bookkeepers, trainees and administration colleagues.
  • Keep client records and assignment progress current within practice-management systems.
  • Identify errors, unusual transactions and opportunities to provide clients with additional support.

Essential

  • IPASS and IATI qualifications.
  • Strong payroll and bookkeeping knowledge.
  • Accuracy and close attention to detail.
  • Confident written and verbal communication.
  • Previous client-facing experience.
  • Ability to manage competing assignments independently and meet statutory deadlines.

Preferred

  • Approximately three years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Experience with BrightPay, BrightBooks, BrightAccounts Production or ROS.
  • €45,000 annual salary.
  • Ownership of recurring client assignments.
  • Varied payroll, pensions, VAT and bookkeeping work.
  • Client-facing experience across different sectors.
  • Support from experienced accounting colleagues.
  • Exposure to wider accounts work and practice systems.
