Position Summary

As a Rental Lead, you are responsible for leading the daily operations of the rental shop by setting the standard for exceptional guest service, teamwork, and professionalism. You will lead by example while training and supporting the rental team, ensuring daily tasks are completed safely and efficiently. This role requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate others. As a key holder, you will be responsible for opening and closing the rental operation, including point-of-sale procedures, and must be approved to drive company vehicles to transport rental equipment between locations as needed. This is an indoor and outdoor position requiring assistance with snow removal, moving ski racks, shop setup and breakdown, and other operational duties. Rental Leads may be scheduled to work at any of our rental locations based on operational needs.

Essential Duties & Major Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager and Supervisor with leading daily operations, including opening and closing rental locations, serving as a key holder, and completing point-of-sale opening, closing, and cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure guests are accurately and safely fitted with rental equipment, including proper foot measurements, boot fitting, and equipment selection, while coaching team members on best practices.
  • Verify all rental equipment is accurately scanned out and checked back in according to established rental procedures.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of rental equipment, ski and snowboard lessons, and mountain operations, including lodges, lifts, terrain, and operating schedules.
  • Obtain authorization to drive company vehicles and transport rental equipment between rental locations as needed.
  • Assist with training new and existing employees while promoting teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Promote and follow safe operating procedures while using rental equipment, tools, and shop machinery.
  • Assist with ski binding testing, obtain Amer Sports binding certification, and perform basic rental equipment repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Lead daily shop organization, cleanliness, gear waxing projects, and other operational tasks while encouraging coworkers to maintain high standards.
  • Assist the Valet Specialist with overnight storage and valet guest services as needed.
  • Support the Tune Shop with basic waxing tasks when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This is an indoor/outdoor position requiring prolonged standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and exposure to varying weather conditions.

Job Scope

Mt . Bachelor Rental Shop is the largest in Central Oregon. The team works together in a very fast-paced atmosphere. Our staff is required to be knowledgeable and professional. Our staff must be passionate about the sport and willing to use their knowledge to assist our guests in selecting the products (rentals, lessons, lift tickets) that best fit their needs.

Secondary Function

Assist other stations in the rental shop. Assist in snow removal (shoveling) of Rental shop’s designated areas. Assist in day/overnight storage of ski equipment/ and or weekend and holiday outside ski check attending. Assist in moving ski racks onto the snow in the morning and replacing them at the end of the day. Assist in housekeeping of work areas – clean and vacuum as needed. Assist with other duties as assigned.

Specific Job Skills

  • License/Certification: Must pass certification test with binding manufacturers.
  • Technical : Some mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Physical Capabilities: The ability to push 50 lbs of force at a height of 42”, willing to stand outside in all weather conditions while running Corral.

Education/Related Experience

  • Minimum Education: High School or Equivalent Required.
  • Minimum time in related position: 1 year in customer service, retail, hospitality or related customer service experience.

Current Hiring Range: $18/hr
