About The Role

Wood is recruiting for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join its Projects Team, focusing on engineering, procurement and construction of complex plants in the Chemical, Petrochemical and Energy industries. The position will be based in Corsico (Milan) office, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week.

The Role

The Principal Electrical Engineer reports functionally to the Electrical Department Manager and operationally to one or more Project Managers. He/She is responsible, on projects, for leading a team of discipline engineers / designers, in a multi-office environment, while still performing technical tasks within the projects.

The key objectives for this role are

  • Manage proper and timely execution of projects
  • Responsible for cost, schedule, material quantity / budget control and management of changes
  • Ensure all contractual electrical engineering documents are issued
  • Ensure technical accuracy and quality of all work performed by the multi-office electrical project team
  • Take personal responsibility for safety and a healthy environment on the projects
  • Ensure effective communications with other engineering disciplines, project management and Client teams
  • Contribute to people development (e.g. coach junior engineers)
  • Develop scope of work, assumptions, clarifications and man-hour estimates in response to Requests for Proposals
  • Add value plus / optimization ideas
  • Study / develop single line diagrams and functional diagrams
  • Accurately perform and / or check electrical design calculations for electrical loads, voltage profile, short-circuit and device coordination studies, etc., using standard electrical engineering software in accordance with applicable codes
  • Execute / check equipment sizing calculations
  • Prepare / check electrical job specifications and data sheets
  • Prepare / check material requisitions for electrical equipment and technical bid evaluations as per relevant practices
  • Review Vendor drawings and documentation as per relevant practices
  • Perform site surveys and prepare relevant reports
  • Assist Client in taking challenging technical decisions

Expected

  • Master Degree in Electrical Engineering, with 10/15 years of engineering experience in the required industry
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Italian
  • Excellent leadership skills in Electrical Engineering with ability to handle complex multi-office projects (mega-projects)
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proven track record in handling large teams of electrical engineers structured and spread across different offices
  • Conceptual, FEED and EPC / EPCm experiences
  • Knowledge of international codes & standards e.g. IEC, ANSI, IEEE, CEI EN
  • Proven knowledge of industry accepted electrical system analysis software such as ETAP and/or PTW SKM and Caneco
  • Ability to use electrical data base, such as Intergraph Smart Electrical and Aveva Electrical, is a plus
  • Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
  • Flexible to travel

Compensation and compliance

Contract & Classification

  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Collective Agreement (CCNL): Industria Metalmeccanica (CNEL C011)
  • Job Classification level: Quadro, consistent with role requirements and applicable CCNL

Compensation

  • Gross Annual Salary: the initial gross annual salary will be € 63,000.00, paid in 14 instalments
  • The compensation package will include applicable CCNL elements and company benefits
  • Variable pay and additional benefits will be detailed during the selection process
