We are looking for a Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to Sr. Principal Engr, Structural analysis and based in San Jose, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week .

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide structural analysis and evaluation to solve challenging design problems related to high temperature application products at component and assembly levels
  • Develop 2-D/3-D models for structural behavior, utilizing FEA structural analysis codes along with hand calculations based on first principles for design improvement and reliability
  • Validation of modeling and simulation results with testing and field data
  • Perform sanity checks for the FEA results to take design decisions
  • Identify possible failure modes and mechanisms and propose design changes to address the same
  • Interface with cross functional team, create reports and present modeling results on a regular basis

Skills and Experience

  • Masters/PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with background in Finite Element Analysis
  • 5+ years of extensive experience in stress analysis & meshing packages, expert level knowledge in Abaqus and Hypermesh FEA tools
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of strength of materials
  • Experience in performing finite element structural analysis using materials with non-linear stress/strain relationships, hyper-elastic materials, isotropic/orthotropic/anisotropic materials and springs
  • Skills in handling complex 3-D geometry, grid generation, contact convergence and post-processing
  • High temperature component modeling experience is a plus
  • Understanding of experimental methods and testing is highly desirable
  • Strong drive to learn new application areas and capable of modeling complex simulations and multi-disciplinary systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to details
  • Excellent communication skills– both written and verbal

Salary Ranges

$176,300.00 - $253,700.00
