About The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Food Service Assistant to join our team in St Columba's College, Whitechurch, Dublin 16, Ireland. St Columba's is a secondary boarding school situated across the M50 in the south county Dublin foothills. As a vital member of our food service operations, you will contribute to creating a positive dining experience for our customers while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety.

  • Assist in food preparation, including washing, cutting, and portioning ingredients
  • Serve meals and beverages to customers in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning
  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to maintain a hygienic work environment
  • Restock serving lines, condiment stations, and dining areas as needed
  • Assist with inventory management and storage of food items and supplies
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely service
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and concerns
  • Participate in cleaning and organizing kitchen and dining areas
  • Assist with special events and catering services as required

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE YOU APPLY.

  • This position starts at the end of August.
  • The site is difficult to get to using public transport, please explore your transport options.
  • The hours are determined by the school's term time, eg the school is closed for 3 weeks at Easter & Christmas, 4 weeks in August and 1 week in October and February.
  • The full-time role is usually 40 hrs/wk but this is not guaranteed due to the school's term time.
  • The shifts are typically Monday to Friday but flexibility would be desired.
  • The shifts are typically 11:00 - 19:00 but flexibility is desired.

 

  • Food handling experience
  • Previous experience in food service or hospitality industry preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and work schedules
  • Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds for extended periods
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
