About The Role

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

  • Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
  • Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
  • Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.

Join us as an Economic Crime - Advisor, where you will provide strategic business-facing advisory support across the development, launch, governance, and ongoing management of our product portfolio. In this role, you will assess and mitigate economic crime risks throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that new products and services meet regulatory, compliance, and risk management requirements before approval and implementation. You will support the close partnership with Compliance, Risk, and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate emerging risks, define appropriate controls, and support robust product governance frameworks. Working collaboratively with Journey Labs and customer journey teams, you will support the design and help to embed effective economic crime controls into new and existing processes, ensuring products are delivered in a safe, compliant, and customer-focused manner.

To be successful as an Economic Crime Advisor, you must have the following essential skills

  • First-line Economic Crime experience, with an expertise in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks across business operations and products.
  • Product management experience with the ability to provide advice and challenge on Business Banking products throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Experience within the Financial Services sector, with an understanding of Business Banking products, customers, and associated risk frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across diverse cross-functional team.
  • Knowledge of UK financial crime legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices relating to Economic Crime and risk management.

Some other highly valued skills may include

  • Recognised financial crime qualification (ICA AML Diploma, ACAMS, or equivalent)
  • Influencing and execution capabilities, with an experience of driving outcomes and delivering strategic projects across complex cross-functional environments

This role will be based in our London or Northampton office.
