About The Role
We are looking for an APC Operator to join the Operations team in West Hartford, CT supporting NBC Connecticut. As an APC Operator, you will be primarily responsible for directing and operating live and recorded television news productions using the Ross Overdrive Automated Production Control system. Essential Functions 
- Technical preparation, coding and execution of live and recorded television news content and programming from production control rooms, studios and remote locations. 
- Give direction and timing to talent and other technicians during broadcasts and studio productions. 
- Shape overall creative appearance of the broadcast using imaginative video, audio and graphics presentations in concert with the Content team.   
- Operate video and graphic playout via Dalet Galaxy and Ross Xpression. 
- Operate robotic camera controls using Ross Cambot Software. 
- Operate SSL Audio platform. 
- Set-up and maintain studio equipment, set pieces, and lighting. 
- Work with Management and Engineering staff to continually refine workflows, creating new efficiencies and capabilities. 
- Document technical procedures and processes. 
- Participate in station-sponsored events and all assigned special projects.  
- Perform other duties as assigned. 
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience. 
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, journalism, engineering, radio, television & film, operations, media production, related fields or equivalent experience. 
- 1 year experience working as a newscast Director and/or Technical Director 
- 1 year experience of hands-on work with Automated Production Control system 
Desired Qualifications: 
- Experience directing and operating television production systems for mid to major market news or live events. 
- Expertise with the Ross Overdrive Production Automation, including coding and preparation of rundowns, automation of video switchers, audio mixers, camera robotics, graphic systems and prompters. 
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to troubleshoot and work around operational issues.  
- Experience working under pressure in breaking news situations while being a calm leader in the control room. 
- Ability to work well and communicate effectively with others. 
- Self-motivated, highly creative, solution focused individual. 
- Find simple solutions to complex problems. 
- Punctual, regular, and dependable attendance. 
- Cover necessary job functions in an emergency capacity. 
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) a plus

- Must be able to and willing to work any shift, 24/7, willing to work long hours, on weekends and holidays in support of our station operations as needed. 
- Must be willing to work in severe weather/breaking news emergencies 
- Must be a member or be willing to become a member of the IBEW union 
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.  
- Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program  
- Must be 18 years or older  
- Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
