About The Role

The purpose of this position is to produce materials and messages that invite all God's children to follow Jesus Christ. This role works under the direction of the Presiding Bishopric to provide advanced professional video support to all Church departments and areas ('originators') desiring to create internal, or external-facing messaging, related products and experiences in various formats and languages. The PSD charter directs that "a team of creative and production talent [be maintained] to design, produce, script, edit, translate, and publish all messaging-related Church products." The Video Professional is a key member of this team.

This role provides advanced professional video services for a wide variety of projects and clients. This role is often the point of contact for large, complex, and high-profile in-studio productions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Videography, including small-footprint shoots with senior General Authorities
  • Broadcast/Film camera operation (manned, robotic, & handheld)
  • Studio supervision. During production, this position provides on-site coordination for crew members of all disciplines – video, audio, lighting, etc.
  • Equipment stewardship – maintaining gear and basic trouble shooting when needed
  • Assisting management with coordinating the work of vendors and contractors during on-site productions.

*Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, media arts, or related field;
  • Ten years' experience with live production and filmed production; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced ability to operate a wide variety of professional video production equipment.
  • Advanced understanding of industry video specifications and standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of time code, frame rates, interlacing, NTSC standards, the interface of sound to picture.
  • Advanced understanding of industry best practices in video production and post-production.
  • Advanced ability to make good decisions in fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with senior leadership.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new platforms and systems.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a creative problem solver.
  • Must be able to regularly lift/move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
