About The Role

This position plays an important role in advancing the mission of Church Welfare and Deseret Industries by combining productive warehouse work with meaningful workforce development. In addition to supporting warehouse operations, the incumbent helps create opportunities for associates to learn industry-standard skills, develop strong work habits, and increase their capacity for self-reliance. Through coaching, mentorship, and daily example, this role helps individuals gain the experience, confidence, and employability needed to improve their circumstances, become more self-sufficient, and provide for themselves and their families. By supporting associates in their growth and development, this position contributes to the broader mission of caring for the poor and needy and helping individuals move toward greater independence and long-term success.

This position serves three important functions within a warehouse and manufacturing environment

  • Production Support: Provides competent, multi-station workforce capacity to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time production of quality products. This role supports warehouse operations by performing a variety of tasks, including material handling, product processing, inventory movement, packaging, shipping preparation, and other production-related activities as needed to meet customer and shipping demands.
  • Role Model and Trainer: Serves as a working role model and hands-on trainer for the warehouse dynamic population of associates. Through daily example, coaching, and encouragement, this position demonstrates industry-standard work practices, productivity expectations, quality standards, workplace safety, teamwork, and professional conduct.
  • Trainer Support: Serves as an assistant to the Supervisor by helping orient, train, and support associates in developing the skills, work habits, and confidence needed to succeed in a warehouse setting. This role assists with reinforcing training objectives, monitoring progress, providing constructive feedback, and promoting a positive learning environment that supports individual growth and employment success.
  • Warehouse Operations Support: Assists with maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment by following all safety procedures, identifying process improvement opportunities, keeping work areas clean and orderly, and supporting overall warehouse operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or material handling equipment (if applicable).
  • 2 years post high school formal education and 2 years of production work experience, or a comparable combination of education and/or experience.
  • Excellent work habits and skills, with strength and stamina to do physically demanding work safely.
  • Flexibility, to deal with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proven abilities to work for and with others.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and ability to model safe work practices at all times.
  • Ability to coach, train, and mentor individuals with varying levels of work experience and skill development.
  • Demonstrated patience, professionalism, and respect when working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualification

  • Ability to provide constructive feedback, encouragement, and support while maintaining accountability for performance expectations.
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple warehouse functions, including receiving, sorting, inventory control, production, packaging, and shipping.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to adapt training methods to meet the needs of individual associates.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with associates, supervisors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
