The Work Study Campus Host acts as a greeter in Academic buildings and welcomes all visitors as well as other students, staff and family members. This position is required to exhibit professionalism and provide strong customer service. This Federal Work Study position will support current students by providing opportunities for students to use safe facilities and provide general assistance to students using the facilities. In addition, this position will complement and reinforce a Federal Work Study student’s educational program or vocational goals by providing opportunities for the Work Study Campus Host to increase their skills to learn customer service skills and learn basic administrative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee access control of all individuals in the building.
  • Check all individuals entering the building for a valid AAU badge or identification.
  • Respond per standard operation procedures in times of emergencies.
  • Ensure that visitors/vendors show a valid form of identification at the front desk.
  • Request that visitors sign logbook.
  • Request that vendors sign separate logbook for verification.
  • Issue visitor passes.
  • Log each visitor into the database daily.
  • Greet potential student(s)/staff at the front desk.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of AAU pamphlets to distribute at front desk.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of each department.
  • Direct visitors to appropriate personnel or department in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the campus locations, both academic and residential.
  • Assist students with questions regarding Academy procedures e.g. bus schedules and building locations based on class schedules.
  • Work closely with the Campus Safety Operations Manager to fulfill their goals:
  • Complete data entry, faxing, and answering telephone calls as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and various departments as needed.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the Communication Center Dispatchers.
  • Perform inventory control in and out of building.
  • Ensures building lobby areas are always presentable.
  • Reports building repairs to the Communications Center.
  • Provide coverage for special events as needed.
  • Dress in proper attire provided by the Academy.

Always provide professional customer service.

Qualifications

  • Current Academy of Art University student
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to greet guests, answer questions, and provide clear directions
  • Ability to follow directions and assist the school’s everyday needs

Pay Rate

$19.61 per hour

Work Schedule

  • Up to 20 hours per week
  • Federal Work Study schedules can work up to 20 hours per week*
  • Federal Work Study - work schedules may not conflict with the student's class schedule.
