This role is an early and influential opportunity within a focused innovation environment at a fast-growing <fintech.You> will own the engineering foundations that allow teams to move ideas into production quickly, safely, and reliably.Your scope will cover CI/CD, Azure infrastructure, containerisation, deployment safety, migrations, and production <observability.You>’ll work closely with platform, data, and engineering specialists while having meaningful influence over how operational foundations are designed.The role is highly hands-on, with a strong emphasis on diagnosing real production issues and building systems that can scale with the <business.You>’ll suit an environment where autonomy, curiosity, pragmatic problem-solving, and fast execution matter more than bureaucracy.This is an opportunity to make rapid delivery safer and more reliable while shaping the platform practices of an evolving fintech organization.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable rapid, reliable, and safe deployments into production.
- Own the Azure infrastructure layer, including environments, configuration, secrets management, and networking.
- Manage containerised workloads using Docker and Azure-managed services, ensuring reliable operation and deployment.
- Establish and maintain production observability through effective logging, metrics, and alerting.
- Monitor production systems and use observability data to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve live incidents before they become significant business issues.
- Execute database and schema migrations safely, including designing rollback strategies that can be relied upon when deployments or migrations fail.
- Work closely with the Data Engineering function to support and evolve the data platform underpinning the innovation pod.
- Help establish deployment, infrastructure, and operational practices that allow development teams to move quickly without compromising reliability.
- Document infrastructure, operational decisions, and processes clearly so that production teams can confidently take ownership of the systems you build.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of platform reliability, deployment safety, and engineering workflows within a small, highly collaborative team.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a closely related role.
- Proven production experience owning CI/CD pipelines end to end, from implementation through ongoing optimisation and troubleshooting.
- Strong hands-on experience with Docker and Azure-managed services.
- Practical observability expertise, including logging, metrics, alerting, and diagnosing live production incidents rather than simply configuring dashboards.
- Experience managing database or schema migrations in production, including handling failures and implementing effective rollback strategies.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, deployment practices, configuration management, and production reliability.
- Comfortable working in a small team where there is no large platform function to provide ready-made solutions or extensive operational support.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating closely with platform, data, engineering, and product stakeholders.
- Curious, solutions-oriented mindset with a pragmatic approach to solving infrastructure and operational challenges.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a focus on enabling teams to deliver quickly without sacrificing safety or reliability.
- Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or Bicep is advantageous.
- Experience working in fintech or another regulated environment is a plus.
- Exposure to modern data technologies such as dbt or Snowflake is beneficial.
- Interest in agentic or AI-assisted development workflows is advantageous.
- A strong documentation habit, including experience creating Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), runbooks, incident reports, or similar operational documentation.
