The Opportunity

We're seeking an Electrical Engineer - BESS & Electrical Systems to join our growing Power & Energy team and support a rapidly expanding portfolio of renewable energy projects across Australia.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role can be based in any of WSP's East Coast offices and offers the flexibility of a hybrid working model.

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop their technical skills while working on industry-leading renewable energy and battery energy storage projects. You'll work alongside highly experienced engineers and specialists, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle, from development and due diligence through to design, construction, and commissioning.

You'll contribute to meaningful projects that support Australia's energy transition while building a strong foundation for a long-term career in the power and renewables sector.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Support the delivery of BESS and electrical engineering solutions for renewable energy projects across Australia
  • Assist with electrical design, technical studies, due diligence and engineering assessments
  • Contribute to Owner's Engineer (OE) and Technical Due Diligence (TDD) projects under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings and project documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and support client deliverables
  • Participate in site visits, commissioning activities and project meetings where required
  • Continue developing your technical knowledge through mentoring, training and hands-on project experience

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2-5 years' experience in the power, utilities, renewable energy, or engineering consulting sectors
  • Exposure to power systems, renewable energy, BESS, HV infrastructure, or transmission and distribution projects is desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Eagerness to learn from experienced engineers and develop your technical expertise
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Working towards Chartered status with Engineers Australia is highly regarded
