About The Role

Software Engineer III

We are seeking a talented individual who will focus on building scalable, accessible, and high-performing user-friendly web applications in modern web development technologies. The ideal candidate should possess expertise and hands-on experience on Node.js, GoLang, React, TypeScript, GraphQL along with strong knowledge on AWS (Lambda, AppSync) and DevOps principles. The ideal candidate should also possess knowledge on AI with hands-on-experience on using AI-Powered IDEs such as Cursor.

This role aligns to industry level titles such as Senior Software Engineer, Backend Engineer III, Senior Application Engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance frontend applications using Node, TypeScript and React.
  • Develop and integrate composition layer APIs using GraphQL and AWS AppSync.
  • Work on Node.js modules to build the composition layer component.
  • Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Ensure best practices in CI/CD pipelines for continuous deployment and integration.
  • Implement secure and scalable solutions leveraging AWS services.
  • Maintain code quality using version control systems like Git.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications as needed.
  • Work in an agile team environment and participate in code reviews.
  • Ensure web applications are accessible and comply with accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA, etc.).

Required Experience and Skills

  • A minimum experience of 4 years in hands-on-development.
  • Strong experience in Node.js, React and TypeScript.
  • Experience working with AWS, particularly AWS AppSync/Lambda.
  • Strong knowledge of GraphQL for API development and integration.
  • Experience working with AI-Powered IDEs such as Cursor.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Experience with Git for version control.
  • Understanding of performance optimization and front-end best practices.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and serverless technologies.
  • Experience in implementing accessibility best practices and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Ability to learn fast, work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles and design systems

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Vermont, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $100,000 - $130,000.
