Job Overview

The Mechanic Superintendent role requires extensive knowledge of project execution strategies, workforce management, and mechanical fabrication principles. Key Tasks and Reponsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical aspects of fabrication projects, ensuring seamless execution of assembly, installation, and commissioning of mechanical components and systems
  • Implement and enforce strict safety protocols to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards, fostering a zero-accident work environment
  • Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to ensure mechanical work aligns with project specifications, schedules, and quality benchmarks
  • Supervise and direct a team of mechanics and technicians in fabrication, fitting, and adjustment of mechanical systems and equipment
  • Manage the procurement and inventory of mechanical parts, tools, and materials, ensuring availability and quality to support project demands
  • Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical issues encountered during fabrication, minimizing project delays and cost impacts
  • Maintain accurate records of mechanical operations, including project progress updates, equipment maintenance logs, and safety compliance documentation
  • Promote continuous professional development within the mechanical team by providing training, mentorship, and skill-enhancement opportunities
  • Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Essential Qualifications and Education

  • Education: Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field with an emphasis on fabrication and mechanical systems
  • Experience: Proven track record in a supervisory or managerial role within a fabrication environment, overseeing mechanical operations on large-scale projects
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mechanical fabrication techniques, tools, and machinery, with the ability to oversee complex assembly and installation processes
  • Safety Commitment: Demonstrated commitment to enforcing and maintaining high safety standards in a mechanical fabrication setting
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, manage, and inspire a team of skilled mechanics, fabricators, and support staff
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to address mechanical challenges effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Communication & Organization: Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments and ensure smooth project execution
