As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank Payments Technology team, you will design, build, and maintain scalable full stack solutions that support mission-critical payment platforms. You will work alongside talented engineers and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality software that directly impacts how businesses and institutions move money around the world. Job responsibilities

Execute software solutions across design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond conventional approaches to break down complex problems and deliver innovative outcomes
Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems across the full stack using Java and modern front-end frameworks
Build and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and stored procedures to ensure data integrity and high performance at scale
Deploy and manage cloud-based infrastructure and services, contributing to the reliability and scalability of payment processing platforms
Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables — including code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation — while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contribute learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness
Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met throughout software code development
Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
Collaborate with product, architecture, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipeline improvements, and automation efforts to accelerate delivery and uphold engineering best practices and security standards

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages, including Java, and database querying languages including PostgreSQL
Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment — such as for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation — with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
Experience building and deploying applications in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and full stack development patterns
Exposure to cloud-native technologies and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience working within the payments or financial services domain
Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven design patterns
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms
