About The Role
About Happiest Baby
Happiest Baby is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that help babies sleep better and support families during the critical early years of a child's life. We are committed to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and fostering a collaborative environment where talented professionals can thrive and grow. We offer a competitive compensation package, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization making a meaningful difference for families worldwide.
Our Mission
Happiest Baby is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Logistics Manager to oversee transportation, warehousing, and logistics operations across our domestic and international supply chain network. This role will be responsible for ensuring the efficient movement of goods, managing key logistics partners, supporting wholesale operations, and driving operational excellence across multiple distribution channels. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented logistics professional with strong analytical capabilities, a proven ability to manage complex transportation networks, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service levels in a fast-paced environment.
About the role
We are building a leaner, faster, more resilient accounting function by pairing skilled accountants with modern automation and AI (Artificial Intelligence) tooling. This role sits at the intersection of accounting and engineering: you will design, build, and document the automated processes that let a small team close the books, build/rebuild and maintain subledgers, and stay audit-ready with far less manual effort.
You are not just an automation engineer, and you are not just an accountant. You understand how a general ledger, subledgers, reconciliations, and an audit work, and you can build the Python scripts, data pipelines, and AI agents that do that work reliably and repeatably. Your output is measured not only in what you automate, but in whether a trained accountant can run, understand, and easily verify the results after you hand it off.
What you will do
Automate and optimize existing processes
- Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone accounting workflows (reconciliations, journal entry preparation, roll-forwards, tie-outs, reporting packages) and rebuild them as automated, documented processes.
- Use Python (primarily pandas for data work), Excel automation, Claude for Excel, Claude Code, and agentic workflows to eliminate manual data handling.
- Reduce close cycle time and error rates while improving auditability.
Rebuild and integrate subledgers and data
- Rebuild subledgers (for example, fixed-asset, rental-asset, and inventory subledgers) that pull and reconcile data from disparate proprietary and third-party hosted sources.
- Design ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines that consolidate these sources into a single, reconciled, defensible record.
- Build serial-level or transaction-level traceability where the business requires it, and reconcile subledgers back to the general ledger.
Document and enable the team (this is core, not optional)
- Turn every automation into a repeatable, documented SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) that a skilled accountant, not just the author, can run.
- Write clear runbooks, in-code comments, and control descriptions so processes survive turnover and satisfy auditors.
- Train and support accounting staff so the team can operate and maintain what you build.
Support audit readiness
- Build the reconciliations, tie-outs, and support schedules that reduce audit fieldwork, shorten PBC (Prepared By Client) turnaround, and lower audit cost.
- Structure workpapers and evidence so they are traceable, reproducible, and easy for external auditors to follow.
Govern AI use responsibly
- Apply sound controls to AI-assisted and agentic processes: review points, validation, version control, and clear boundaries on where automation acts versus where a human approves.
- Help establish and follow the organization's standards for API (Application Programming Interface) usage, data handling, and model governance.
What success looks like
- First 15 days: Map the current process landscape, identify the highest-value automation targets, and deliver two or three documented, production-ready automations.
- First 30 days: Rebuild at least one full subledger from disparate sources, reconciled to the general ledger and documented end to end.
- First 60 days: Measurably shorter close cycles, a documented library of repeatable processes owned by the accounting team, and demonstrably faster, less expensive audit preparation.
Required qualifications (non-negotiable)
- Solid working knowledge of accounting fundamentals: general ledger and subledger mechanics, reconciliations, journal entries, and how these roll up to financial statements under US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Hands-on Python for data work (pandas), including reading from and reconciling multiple messy data sources.
- Strong Excel skills, including Power Query or equivalent data-transformation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to build and, critically, to document automated processes so others can run them.
- Comfort working with, and directing, modern AI tooling (large language model assistants, coding assistants, and agents) as part of daily work.
Preferred qualifications (strong pluses, some teachable)
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CPA-track, or public accounting / audit background, especially first-year or clean-up audits.
- SQL (Structured Query Language) and experience integrating data across systems via APIs.
- Experience with ERP and GL systems including QuickBooks and data extraction from them.
- Power BI or similar reporting and data-modeling experience.
- Prior finance-automation, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), or systems-integration work.
Who you are
- You care as much about the process being understood and maintainable as about it working once.
- You are pragmatic: you automate what should be automated and leave judgment calls to people.
- You communicate clearly with both accountants and engineers, and you can teach.
- You are trustworthy with sensitive financial data and disciplined about controls.
- Tools you will use
- Python (pandas), SQL, Excel and Power Query, Claude for Excel, Claude Code, AI agents and the Anthropic API, Power BI, and the company's QuickBooks and ancillary finance systems.
Perks
- Private health insurance, in line with future arrangements
- SNOO for your baby for the happiest first 6 months
- A friendly office and a dynamic work environment
- Being part of a team that's making a difference in the lives of parents and babies
