About The Role

As a Decorator Mechanic, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of decorating equipment to ensure efficient and high-quality production of beverage cans.

Responsibilities:**

  • Set up, adjust, and operate decorating machines, including ink systems, varnish application, and curing ovens, to meet production specifications.
  • Monitor decorator performance, identifying and rectifying issues such as misprints, registration problems, and quality defects.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on decorator equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of worn parts.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic problems on decorating machinery.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure product consistency and adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct quality checks on decorated cans, utilizing measuring tools and visual inspection techniques.
  • Maintain accurate production records, maintenance logs, and inventory of spare parts.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Assist in training new operators and mechanics on decorator operations and maintenance.
  • Propose and implement improvements to decorating processes and equipment for enhanced efficiency and quality.

Qualifications:**

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or a technical degree in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic or operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably with experience in printing, decorating, or packaging machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and controls is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
