Division Overview

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees, and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts. Cheraw, SC.

Duties

  • Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications, company’s quality control system standards
  • Reads Litho Department data sheets to assist with adherence to quality; communicates information to workers in these areas.
  • Enters data into computer to confirm products are manufactured according to standard.
  • Identifies differences between established standards and worker products and suggests modifications to conform to standards.
  • Determine if samples gathered from line conform to company standard.
  • Visually inspects cans to ensure “out-of-spec” cans do not leave the building.
  • Notes reason for rejection on worksheet.
  • Gathers samples from the production lines in the assigned area or department at specific intervals throughout the shift.
  • Reports unresolved problems to supervisor orally and in writing.
  • Writes HFI’s on non-conforming products and recommends disposition of load to management.
  • May shut down a production line if quality specifications cannot be achieved.
  • Reviews quality problems with management.
  • May set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
  • Inspects test equipment to verify equipment functions according to standards.
  • Reads company specification manuals to secure such information as size and weight of product and verify results of quality tests versus company standards.
  • Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process using precision measuring devices and complies and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Calibrates weight, metal exposure and distribution gauges.
  • Weighs metal body samples

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

  • Generally, works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.

Qualifications

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Competencies

  • Good oral and written communications skills. Good record keeping skills. Good listening skills. Accurate measurement capability. Ability to understand and speak basic English.
