Cafe Cubanos is gearing up for another exciting winter season in the mountains of Hakuba and Niseko - where powder days, early morning coffees, and apres vibes are all part of the routine. We're a fast-paced, community driven cafe known for great coffee, cuban sandwiches, freshly baked goods and providing welcoming atmosphere for both locals and international travellers. Our team is made up of people who love the snow, thrive in a busy environment, and bring good energy to every shift. Back of House Opportunities

We're looking for experienced, organised and reliable team members who can work efficiently in a busy cafe environment delivering consistent high quality food throughout the winter season.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing all ingredients for the cafe
• Baking cakes and other sweet treats daily
• Baking cakes for special occasions such as birthdays if required
• Working alongside the BOH Manager to maintain stock levels, prep lists and hygiene standards
• Adhering with food safety standards at all times
• Maintaining consistency, quality and presentation standards
• Assisting in the development of our cafe menu and baked good selection
• Assisting with opening and closing kitchen procedures

What We're Looking For

• A positive, team first attitude
• Strong communication and customer service skills in English (Japanese is a plus!)
• Reliability, adaptable, and the able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Minimum 1 year experience for Prep and Kitchen Hand roles
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Chef or Sous Chef position
• Experience baking western-style cakes and baked sweets (e.g., carrot cake, brownies & cookies)
• Experience in decorating cakes for celebrations preferred
• Excellent food safety knowledge
• Experience developing menus
• Eligible for a Working Holiday Visa or working permit in Japan
