About The Role

Ensures the temple ordinances are kept pure, recorded accurately and made available to worthy Church members by providing an environment where patrons may have a positive and uplifting experience each time they come to the temple. Maintaining and operating temples at standards established by the First Presidency.

Protects and secures the sacred and temporal aspects of the temple or other church buildings including the structure, grounds, and ancillary structures and to protect the temple employees, patrons, and visitors by supervising, training, and scheduling security personnel, and by using appropriate electronic alarms and surveillance equipment.

  • Conduct the required number of inspections of buildings, grounds, and other facilities during assigned shifts.
  • Identify and effectively respond to life-threatening security incidents, including situations that may pose a risk to personal safety.
  • Serve as a first responder to fire, medical, and other emergency situations by providing first aid, CPR, and emergency assistance to injured or ill individuals, including safely removing victims from hazardous environments when necessary.
  • Manage disruptive, aggressive, or combative individuals using appropriate intervention techniques and, where authorized by law, perform physical restraint, detention, and handcuffing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws, security policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Support daily security operations and contribute recommendations for process improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Where applicable, supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate security personnel.
  • Apply effective supervision techniques to develop the capabilities of employees and contracted security officers.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and sound decision-making during high-pressure and emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and external stakeholders to implement security practices and procedures.
  • Exercise sound judgment and problem-solving skills by developing innovative and culturally sensitive solutions to complex security challenges.
  • Perform assigned duties independently with minimal supervision and general direction.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and assigned security missions.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of security technologies, systems, and equipment.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in addressing priority security concerns.
  • Conduct security checks of doors, windows, gates, and access points to ensure facilities remain secure. Identify and report vulnerabilities or unauthorized access risks for corrective action.
  • Work flexible schedules and assignments as operational needs require.
  • Prepare accurate incident reports and maintain records of unusual activities and security events.
  • Request additional assistance or emergency support whenever required.
  • Must hold a current Temple Recommend or be worthy to obtain and maintain a Temple Recommend.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Diploma, certification, or formal training in Security Management, Law Enforcement, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of security, law enforcement, or related experience preferred. Candidates with three (3) years of relevant experience and at least one (1) year of security experience may be considered. Up to two (2) years of education may be substituted for qualifying experience, where applicable.
  • Working knowledge of technical security systems or the ability to quickly learn and operate such systems.
  • No criminal record, adverse police history, or affiliation with anti-government or anti-Church organizations.
  • Ability to successfully pass required screening assessments, background checks, aptitude evaluations, and physical fitness tests.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in both French and English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a bilingual environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and accuracy in all communications and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proven ability to complete assignments accurately and efficiently.
  • Physically and mentally fit to meet the demands of a security role. The position may require activities such as climbing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and performing repetitive movements. The role involves a combination of sedentary, moderate, and physically demanding duties.
  • Excellent visual acuity and observational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant computer systems.
