About the Role
As a Data Governance Coordinator, you will help ensure that data assets are managed effectively as products, with governance, quality, metadata, and standards consistently applied across the data estate. Acting as a key link between central data capabilities and Data Stewards, you will support the adoption of governance practices, improve transparency, and help drive trust in data across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee a defined set of datasets and data products across the Lakehouse and wider data estate
- Ensure data products have clear ownership through assigned Data Stewards
- Track the completeness, maturity, and usability of data products
- Ensure adherence to enterprise data governance standards and escalate where standards are not met
- Embed governance requirements into delivery and change processes
- Drive the completeness, quality, and discoverability of metadata and catalogue information
- Monitor data quality outcomes, identify gaps, and support prioritisation of issues
- Promote transparency through the capture of data lineage and coordination across business, engineering, and central teams
Requirements
- Experience supporting or coordinating data governance activities across multiple datasets or products
- Understanding of data ownership, stewardship, metadata management, and data catalogue practices
- Knowledge of data quality principles and monitoring approaches
- Ability to review governance compliance and support the implementation of standards
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams
- Ability to coordinate activities, drive adoption of processes, and influence positive outcomes
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain data governance concepts clearly
