In this role, the Golf House Retail Sales Associate will deliver an exceptional, personalized retail experience that reflects The Madison Club’s standards of excellence. This position supports the day-to-day operations of the Golf House retail shop, with a focus on member and guest service, floor presentation, inventory accuracy, and point-of-sale execution. The Sales Associate is a frontline ambassador for the retail brand, building genuine relationships with members and contributing to a welcoming, polished shopping environment. This position works closely with the Golf House Retail Manager to support buying plan timelines, floor rotations, and the overall retail vision for the property. Responsibilities

Inventory Control

  • Assist with monthly physical inventory counts for retail and maintain accuracy in the POS inventory system in adherence to company standards for category, SKU assignment, pricing, and descriptions.
  • Monitor bestsellers and core stock items; communicate replenishment needs to the Retail Manager in a timely manner to maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Maintain shrink parameters for retail inventory and adhere to all DLC policies for employee purchases.
  • Support the receipt flow process for incoming merchandise, including tagging, steaming, and placing product on the floor according to Buying Plan timelines.
  • Track and document all transfer activity in and out of inventory to account for adjustments and reconcile discrepancies as directed.
  • Maintain adequate levels of all merchandise-related materials including packaging, tagging supplies, and equipment as directed by the Retail Manager.

Selling/Merchandising

  • Assist and service members and their guests with all retail purchases, returns, and special orders; ensure proper procedures are followed for all transactions including markdowns and employee discounts.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of product features, benefits, and brand stories to promote multiple selling and confidently guide members to the right selections.
  • Ensure the store is always pristinely merchandised with frequent floor rotations and new product placed according to Buying Plan timelines and any special events or VIPs on property.
  • Uphold company packaging standards and implement special touches including giftwrapping and thank-you notes to close every sale on a positive, memorable note.
  • Maintain and update member profiles with retail-specific information such as brand preferences and sizes to support personalized service and buying.
  • Support trunk shows, shopping events, and other promotional activations as directed by the Retail Manager.
  • Contribute to meeting monthly sales goals for gross volume and gross profit through proactive, relationship-driven selling and excellent customer service.

POS, Financial, and General Operations

  • Maintain awareness of daily tee sheets and member and guest activity to anticipate service needs and maximize sales opportunities.
  • Update and maintain vendor contact information and seasonal offering details as directed.
  • Assist golf staff with tournament gifting preparation.
  • Assist with any other duties as assigned by the Golf House Retail Manager or Regional Director of Retail.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of retail experience; luxury, golf, or specialty retail preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of the golf and specialty retail industry relates to private club retail shops.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a natural ability to build rapport and create genuine connections with members and guests.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; comfort with POS systems and inventory management software.

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Product and industry knowledge: Demonstrates curiosity and ongoing interest in golf, athleisure, luxury apparel, and accessory trends. Applies brand knowledge to enhance member conversations and selling opportunities.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $21-$23 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
