About The Role

About TFEC

For more than 100 years, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) has partnered with donors and nonprofits across South Central Pennsylvania. Founded in 1920 as The Greater Harrisburg Foundation, TFEC is the 18th oldest community foundation in the country. Its mission is to inspire charitable giving and strengthen local communities now and for future generations. TFEC also supports regional and partner foundations through accounting, investment, and administrative services.

The Opportunity

TFEC is seeking a Vice President of Finance & Investments to lead the organization's financial management, accounting, and investment management, as well as accounting and investment administration services TFEC provides to partner organizations. Reporting to the President & CEO and supervising the Controller (and Assistant Controller indirectly), this is a high-impact leadership role for a finance professional who wants their work to directly strengthen the philanthropic capacity of an entire region.

What You'll Do

  • Lead financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for TFEC and the partner organizations it serves.
  • Oversee investment performance and relationships with investment managers and custodian banks, in partnership with the Investment Advisory Committee.
  • Manage the annual audit and ensure timely, accurate tax and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain oversight of and administer TFEC's Charitable Remainder Trust and Charitable Lead Trust administration.
  • Oversee payroll processing.
  • Supervise and develop the Controller.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to the Board of Directors and its Finance, Investment, and Audit Committees.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management; nonprofit or foundation experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and investment management principles.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing relationships with external financial and service partners.
  • A collaborative leader who brings sound judgment, discretion, and the highest ethical standards to their work.

Our Values

TFEC's work — and this role — is guided by four core values

Inclusion

We believe all voices are vital to our region's future. As a leader overseeing finance and technology, you'll help ensure TFEC's systems and practices promote equity and welcome diverse perspectives.

Stewardship

We are prudent, grateful stewards of the assets, time, and talent entrusted to us — the heart of this role, which safeguards TFEC's and its partner organizations' financial resources.

Endurance

We build permanent legacies that support lasting community change. Sound financial and investment management is what makes those legacies possible for generations to come.

Integrity

We hold ourselves to the highest standards of honesty, mutual respect, confidentiality, and transparency — the foundation of every financial report, audit, and donor relationship this role touches.

TFEC is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
